The short version
Choose Monday.com if…
- • Your primary need is highly visual, flexible board views that non-technical staff love
- • You're part of a larger organisation where Monday.com is mandated across teams
- • You don't need client billing, portals, support tickets, or site monitoring — ever
Choose Marque if…
- • You want a platform purpose-built for agency client management, not retrofitted
- • You need invoicing, retainers, contracts, and billing without extra tools
- • Site monitoring and client health scores are important to how you operate
- • You want to stop paying per seat as your team grows
What Monday.com does well
Monday.com's visual board design is genuinely excellent. The coloured status columns, multiple view types (board, table, timeline, calendar, chart), and the no-code automation builder all contribute to a product that non-technical users find intuitive and satisfying to use. Adoption is typically high because the learning curve is low.
The platform is also remarkably flexible. You can model almost any process as a Monday board — marketing campaign tracking, HR processes, bug tracking, event planning. That universality makes it popular at larger organisations where different departments need to collaborate on a shared platform.
Where Marque has the edge
Monday.com thinks in items and columns. Agency work thinks in clients, projects, retainers, invoices, and tickets. Mapping agency operations onto Monday boards requires significant configuration time — and the result is still a workaround, not a native solution. Marque's data model was built around agencies from the start: a client has projects, projects have tasks, tasks have logged time, logged time produces invoices. That chain is built in.
Monday.com cannot send an invoice. It has no retainer management, no recurring billing, no expense tracking, and no time-to-invoice reconciliation. For a platform charging over $200/mo for a 10-person team, that's a striking absence. Every Monday.com agency customer is also paying for a separate finance tool.
Pricing
Marque is a flat fee per agency, not per seat: Starter £29 , Grow £79 , Agency £149 a month, with 90 days free and no card to start. Hiring somebody does not change the bill until you run out of seats on your plan.
