The short version
Choose ClickUp if…
- • Your work is primarily internal task management with no client-facing billing or portal
- • You want highly customisable views and are happy investing time to configure them
- • You already have separate tools for invoicing, CRM, and support — and that stack is working
Choose Marque if…
- • You want to replace your project management, CRM, invoicing, and support stack with one tool
- • Your clients interact directly with your platform via a branded portal
- • You manage hosted websites and need monitoring without a separate subscription
- • You bill by the hour and need time tracking tied directly to invoices
What ClickUp does well
ClickUp is genuinely one of the most powerful task management tools ever built. The flexibility is remarkable: you can model almost any workflow — sprints, Kanban boards, Gantt charts, docs, whiteboards, and nested subtasks — in ways that most platforms can't match. For development teams and technically capable operations teams, that depth is genuinely useful.
The automation engine is also impressive. Conditional logic, triggering actions across spaces, bulk operations — ClickUp's automation layer can handle complex internal workflows without needing Zapier. If you're building a bespoke operations system and you have someone willing to configure it, ClickUp is a legitimate choice.
Where Marque has the edge
ClickUp released a CRM feature, but it's built on top of the same list/board structure as everything else. There's no contact history timeline, no deal pipeline designed around agency sales cycles, no health score to surface at-risk clients. Marque's CRM was designed from the ground up around agency-client relationships: contact records, company associations, opportunity tracking, and churn prediction built in.
ClickUp cannot send an invoice. Full stop. Every agency using ClickUp is also paying for FreshBooks, QuickBooks, Xero, or similar. Marque includes invoicing, recurring invoices, quotes, expenses, retainers, and direct Xero/QuickBooks sync. The average agency saves one to three subscriptions the day they switch.
Pricing
Marque is a flat fee per agency, not per seat: Starter £29 , Grow £79 , Agency £149 a month, with 90 days free and no card to start. Hiring somebody does not change the bill until you run out of seats on your plan.
